Use Those Scraps

Hello Everyone!

We're back again with a way for you to use all those scraps that you just can't bear to throw out.
Admit it .... you know you have them ....no matter how little they are.

We found this simple tip on the Memory Makers blog and thought it would be very useful to most of us.
So let's begin:

Just start randomly layering your pattern paper scraps onto a piece of cardstock.  It doesn't matter if they "match" or not.  Just have fun creating this mosaic.

Build up the cardstock until it is completely covered.  It doesn't matter if there are bits & pieces hanging off.
Just get as many different designs and patterns on that you would like to show off.

Next, trace a piece of chipboard onto the cardstock.  You can create any shape you want.  The one used here is a jenni bowlin butterfly chipboard.  Try drawing a shape as well.  Worried about messing up the drawing? do it on the back of the cardstock!

Cut it out & now you have an adorable little piece to use as an accent!

Time to kick it up a notch!
Grab some clear embossing ink & powder.  Versamark & Clear UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) was used here.

Cover the butterfly with the clear ink and then cover it with clear embossing powder.

Heat that up to melt the powder and you'll end up with the cool little accent piece!
(you can see how it glistens when the light hits it!)

We hope you find this SOS (save our scraps) helpful today.
If you find yourself creating an accent like this, please let us see!
Share it over on our Facebook Page...

Our First New Project

Well, now that the booth is up & running it's time to start posting some projects for you!

I've been busy the last 2 weeks working on some ideas & displays. If you haven't stopped by yet, here'z a pix of the booth at The Front Porch of the South.  It's over 130,000 sq. feet with more than 400 booth vendors!
We are located in the business section ~ Booth F09.

Today's crafty goodness is now going into the booth so those of you who live local can go see it in person!

We're going to be playing with something pretty basic ~ wooden blocks.

The first thing I did was to stain them.  If you don't have any on hand, you can do what I did - water down some acrylic paint and use it as a colorwash.

Then I gathered up as many odds & ends photos as I could find.  Ones I never scrapped. You know, the ones where everyone is way far away .   Ones that I shot BEFORE I knew how to "fill the frame".

I cut these all into little squares the size of my blocks and glued them on.  Some I completely covered with photos.  Some I added rub~ons to spell names or words.

So , now I can hear you saying "Yeah - now what?"  Well, here is my finished project...Something for the coffee table or an entry-way...maybe even the bathroom counter!

I added some spanish moss in the bottom of my beautious, covered, pedestal jar and tucked some between my photo blocks. Then I added a chipboard letter *F* with the word family on it. The monogram is covered in microbeads for added interest.

This would make a wonderful gift this Season for grandparents who "have everything" and can be completed in just one evening!  It's a great way to use those photos you don't want to toss out but can't really use.

If you'd like to re-create this project, stop by the booth to get started ~ we have bags of blocks all ready to use (and cheaper than you'll find them at the chain stores!)

Hope you find this blog post useful & inspiring and don't forget to go *LIKE* us on Facebook!

If you have followed me over here from The Scrapbook Shoppe, thank you!
I hope that you will continue to check in for new ideas, tips, & tricks like we've posted in the past.

Even tho' The Scrapbook Shoppe is no longer in business, I plan to continue on with my paper passion and love for all things crafty.  So much so that I just couldn't let go of it all the way.

Bob & I have reserved a booth at the all new thrift mall here in Columbus!  We'll be moving into
The Front Porch of the South very soon & you can visit me there from time to time.

We will still be offering some paperie goodness in the form of kits & packs ~ special stuff that won't be offered in the chain stores!  I'm also planning on hosting a FREE make-n-take at least once a month on the weekends!  So I'm really hoping that you will stop by to shop & say **Hey!**

We will be residing in Booth F09 at The Front Porch of the South.  (click here to go to their Facebook page) We'll be in the retail vendor section, all the way on the right side in the stucco-finished spaces.  Just look for the Black Picket Fence!

I know you guys like seeing pictures & peeks, so for this 1st post I'm gonna show you a couple of the paper kits you'll be able to find at The Fence. (sorry that they're so dark, but you'll get the idea).

You will be able to enjoy scrapping & card making with the wonderful products that Crate Paper offers:

Plus, check out one of the "everything you need is here" kits from American Crafts...this one is Dear Lizzy:

We'll also be combining paper treasures with my other love: Shabby Chic Wonderfulness!

You know ~ antique-y, vintage-y, distress-y, beautiful, girly-ish pretty things!  I've got plans just running wild in my head for all the stuff I want to share with you!

But you'll just have to be patient and wait a tad bit longer......we'll be there very soon!
